Our October Favorites

Our favorite time of the month is upon us, Monthly favorites. This month, October, writing up the favorites is a little bit of a bittersweet activity for me. I love October. I love all about it, the weather, the pumpkins, Halloween…But, alas, it is over and it’s time to move on to winter…I hate winter…but I digress. Without further ado, here are my October Favorites.

This month I discovered a neat little tool, Nurse Jamie Uplift. It is a nifty little wand that you roll over your face to get rid of that little swelling that one has when they get up in the morning. This product claims that it “…temporarily improves and “UpLifts” your skin’s appearance.” Basically, it acts like a mini massager and, because it has little tourmaline beads on its roller that always remain cool, it helps with the minor swelling that your face might have. I love this little magic wand. I found out about it from a well-known Youtuber, Tati, and ordered it when she had a discount code. The UpLift is not cheap, it retails for $69, but in my opinion is with every penny. I do notice a difference when I use it and it helps that I get to have a mini facial massage.

My next product is a foundation that I discovered this past month. I am usually a high-end foundation type of girl. However, all these Youtubers, and my friends, were raving about this new drugstore one that I had to try it out for myself. The foundation I am talking about is the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow. Once I tried it, I fell in love. The foundation gives a subtle glow to the face but it doesn’t make the face look oily. On me it lasts all day with setting it once. My favorite way to set this foundation, and also to retouch, is with Mac’s Mineralized Skinfinish in Medium. For the foundation, I mix two colors, 201 and 203.

My favorite under eye concealer for this month was the Nars Creamy concealer in Vanilla. I know I am late to the party, but I was loyal to my Maybelline Age Rewind and refused to try anything new. I was in Sephora and it just so happened that I had used up the last of my Age Rewind that morning. I got the Nars and I never looked back. I’m not going to go into detail about this product, because there are a million reviews, all I will say is that there is a reason so many people love it.

Nars Cosmetics

My favorite under eye setting powder is the Nars Crystal Powder. I cannot believe I have waited so long to try it. I used to hate having to set my under eye concealer with powder. I’m not particularly dry under my eyes, but no matter what I did, whether it was backing or just a plain sweep of powder, that area always ended up looking dry and disgusting. Not with this powder. It is so finely milled and truly translucent.

There is no white cast and, because the powder has a slight slight hint of shimmer, the under eye are doesn’t end up looking dry. Beautiful product. I know a lot of people have trouble using it, but once you get passed the top layer, the powder applies amazingly. I used a paper towel, the rough side, to scrape off the top, if that helps.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Let’s move on to the eyes. My favorite palette this month should come as no surprise, Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario. I have already reviewed this palette on the blog. It’s beautiful. This is a limited edition palette so get your hands on it as soon as you can. My fave mascara combination is my holy grail Lancôme Cils Booster XL topped with It Cosmetics Superhero. I am absolutely in love with this mascara. It gives me thick lashes and, which is the number one factor for me when choosing a mascara, it does not smudge on my lids or under my eyes. I will definitely be repurchasing this product.

Last, but not least, is my favorite lip combo for this month. Now, Fall is the time for dark and sultry lips, and I do love those (check out our fave fall lip colors) but this month I have discovered the perfect purple mix. Once again, I will be mentioning my favorite person for makeup inspiration, Kim Kardashian, when I discuss this lip combo. She likes to wear this most perfect purplish color on her lips that is lined with a greyish liner and is super glossy. I was on the hunt for this lip for a long time and Google was not providing any answers.

Finally, out of frustration, I decided to mix a dark cool brown lip liner, I used Mattese N.Y.C in Mocha Mauve, and a summery light purple lipstick, Pepper by ColorPop (which unfortunately is discontinued but I promise to find dupes). What I do is line my lips with the liner and shade in the corners of both the lower and the upper lip. In the center, I apply Pepper and dab the lips with my finger to marry both colors. On top I apply a clear shiny gloss and I have my perfect Kim K purple ☺.
