Our Favorite Fall Lipsticks

Fall is officially upon us and it is time to say goodbye to my summer colors and whip out my favorite fall lip. I have three staple colors that I always turn to when the weather starts turning cooler and I interchange them depending on the time of day or the type of an outing that I am going to have. My usual colors include some type of a reddish brown than can border on a rusty pumpkin, a dark purple/plum, and a staple nude.

This October I have discovered the perfect red brown lipstick. Seasons past I have used Ofra’s Miami Fever, which is a nice rusty orange color, but this year I have found and fell in love with the most amazing color, Mona by Nars. How can I describe this color? When you first look at it, you’ll think ‘blah’, not interesting…But when you apply it to your lips…ooh child! It’s brown, it’s red, it’s a dark rusty brown, I don’t know…It’s gorgeous! I pair it with a dark lipliner by NYX called Rose Brown. You do need to line your lips with the Audacious lipsticks by Nars. They are super duper soft and creamy and they WILL bleed. But totally worth it!

My next go to is a color by Mac called Sin. Mac describes it as a deep dark blue red, but trust me when I say that it is a very dark purple. I pair it with Mac’s Nightmoth lip pencil and it comes out beautifully. I prefer to wear this combo either a light eye for daytime, or a very smoky, full lashes eye for nighttime. I also prefer to have my face matte when I wear this lipstick. I just find that if I put on a lot of highlighter or have a dewy foundation on, the lipstick starts competing with the skin. No bueno.

And last, but not least, a girl needs her nude. For the fall I try to make my nudes a tiny bit darker than what they are in the spring and summer. During the warmer seasons, if I’m not sporting my signature bright orange, I am wearing either a nude gloss or my Nude Vanille by Tom Ford. When it starts to get cooler, I switch it up to either a darker nude. Right now I am loving the Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss in Rosette lined with Kevyn Aucoin’s lip pencil in Medium. Glosses or creamy lipsticks are great in the fall and winter seasons because my skin and lips get super dry during these seasons, any extra moisture for the lips is always nice. ☺
